The Simpsons Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car Fans Are Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only destination where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical automobile the patriarch built himself in the classic episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. Not even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, fans are getting the family's everyday well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic symbol of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the sole customization item from the show coming to the game. The event will also include a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also get wheels with a TV displaying The Simpsons' opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and boost effects inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite, which includes a brand-new map of the fictional town, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and ends on November 17th.
