Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Iconic Releases

Much like the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
